Alan has been involved in negotiation of one sort or another throughout his career. It began in retail, where Alan worked on the sales floor, as a store manager, a sales trainer, and as a buyer for a kitchen and gourmet store. He has been successful as an outside sales professional and has years of platform experience as a trainer and manager of learning and development.

Alan’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts (with honors) in Communication Theory, and a Master of Business Administration (with honors) from the University of Phoenix Colorado Division. He is a certified instructor for Achieve Global’s Professional Sales Coaching, and as a certified instructor and client coach for Miller Heiman and Corporate Visions curricula.

Alan consistently delivered value through achieving top line revenue goals and negotiating a variety of complex, strategic deals throughout his career. Alan has been recognized by his managers, peers, and colleagues as a leader in the realm of real world professional negotiations and a true collaborator whose efforts result in win-win outcomes.

CenturyLink — Manager / Trainer – Alan served as a trainer and manager for the Business Sales training organization, ultimately managing a 40-member learning and development team. Alan was responsible for course development and delivery along with a team of analysts to measure the efficacy of the curriculum. Alan also managed relationships and contract negotiations with outside training organizations including Corporate Visions, Achieve Global, Miller Heiman, and TableForce.

Telecommunications Research Associates — Director of Custom Learning Solutions – Alan joined Telecommunications Research Associates, the leading professional education firm in telecommunications technology. Serving as Director of Custom Learning Solutions, Alan had the responsibility for negotiating terms and designing custom curricula for major clients including Motorola, Lucent, AT&T, Nortel Networks, SBC, BellSouth, Verizon, Qwest, Cisco, Deloitte & Touche, ABN-Amro Bank, Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, and many others involved in the telecommunications industry.

AT&T — Account Executive/Industry Consultant – Alan consistently ranked in the top 5% of sales achievement nationally. As he moved from sales into technical support, he managed the executive education seminar “Network of the Future” showcase in San Francisco. The showcase highlighted some of the forward-looking work at Bell Laboratories and involved both demonstration and explanation of how telecommunications technologies were evolving.

FB Design — Manager and Buyer – managing the largest store in the chain and becoming a buyer for the “front of the store”, a collection of high-end kitchenware and tableware.

Family and Interests

Today, Alan resides in the Rocky Mountains of his native state, Colorado, where he enjoys life with his wife, Cheri, and daughter Francesca, who thinks he’s pretty funny.
